Fane Ltd deliver practical 'Hands on' training- not just a theory course!- our course is endorsed by the College of Occupational Therapists-one of only a few such endorsments in the country- which means that the course, its support materials and assessment methods have been externally verified as suitable for College of Occupational Therapist members - and you can also benefit from this quality course- either on an open course at FANE-or a bespoke course on your premises
We will give an overview of the law, common injuries, risk assessment and contraversial techniques- but the majority of your time will be spent developeing the principles of safer handling to ensure your safety and that of your client. Taken from the Handling of People 6th Edition(Feb 2011) we deliver a 5-6hr course on our premises or yours- we can tailor the course to meet your needs -we will normally cover Assist to Stand, including stand aids, Assist to sit,support whilst walking, lateral ransfers, Bed work-including In and out of bed, movement up and down the bed, turning in bed- client independance-bed blocks, rope ladders etc and use of slide sheets, Hoist work -choosing a hoist and sling, bed to chair and chair to chair transfers, hoisting from the floor, falls prevention- and any other topic trequired to meet your needs
Update April 2011- the course has just been endorsed by the College of Occupational Therapists for another 3yrs-it was approved with no conditions-and the assessors gave us the follwing commendation The course continues to be of good quality with clear learning outcomes and targeted at support workers which is relevant to occupational therapy.From your submission and annual review it is clear that you have listened to course feedback and changed the assessment to re-balance the practical and learning content of the one day course.We also note that you are using and teaching with the latest technology, which shows good practice.

Moving and Handling(Objects) 5-6hrs A mix of theory and practical training- made bespoke to your business wherever possible by using the objects your staff lift in the workplace- can be a bespoke certificate- or a CIEH Level 2 as appropriate- please call to discuss
Moving and Handling Refresher(People or Objects) 2-3hrs As above but a short refresher course for those who have already passed our full course- we recommend refresher training every 12 months
